Maya Exterior Render AND My Animatic WIP for Storyboards Class.

My exterior scene for the 3D level design class in Maya. It's a good thing I had leveled up too since my interior scene, because my interior didn't look that good. Overall, I'm satisfied with the results. Crits are great, but I might not fix it anymore because I have to focus on other projects (namely Projects Class and ZBrush)

Maya Exterior - Progress


Exterior Scene for maya. Trying to make it as close to the concept art as close as I can. I added normal and spec map to the Hero Prop. The premise of the scene is a shack in the middle of a swamp. Needs.. a bit more work, and I dont’ know how to make the wireframe in the normal map disappear. It's really.. distracting. But oh well, good progress.

Sketches - Last Week and the Week After.


Here are some progress sketches of my sketchbook assignment from last week's and this week's. There are some familiar faces from DigiPen, although the other 5 of the sketches are from my Indonesian Church group. 

This week's sketches are mostly about gesture poses for next semester's character. I think by drawing a few sketches I've already thought of the personality of my character on the fly, an overconfident and reckless spy.

Maya - Exterior Project

This is my hero prop for my Maya exterior. I'm basing it off of a hillbilly shack in the swamp. I stuck closely to the reference I found, with a few minor tweaks.

My final design concept included a straw hat and a shotgun. leaning on the wall. Unfortunately, the Professor did not like that idea, so i scrapped it. The rest of the design are pretty much spot on.

Update - November 7th

Hey guys, I have quite an update this weekend, so let's get up to speed. I have a few things to show this time around, yea?
The first, is my (crappy) Samurai. Turns out putting on alphas on armor isn't as easy as I thought it'd be, as the leg armor and hip guard are lacking in detail. I promise I'll fix it by the end though, don't worry. And these colors aren't going to be the final colors, as they are just the default colors of the matcaps I'm using.



The next batch is my storyboard pass before I change it to an animatic. The only critique I've been getting out of people seem to be that the water pipe in the 3rd page didn't show up until the end of the scene, and the crane shot at the 3rd page isn't reading very well. Overall, it's nice though, so I will fix those before my final animatic.

The last thing that I'll show you guys for now is my exterior design concept to model in Maya. It's pretty much a hillbilly shack in the middle of the swamp/bayou. It's going to be quite interesting, shaping this environment as it goes along. What happened to my interior? Well, it sucks, for now. I will improve it and show it to you guys at the end of the semester though, never fear!

And, I suppose that's all I have to share for you this week though. I know, I still have some sketchbook dumps I could put in, but I really want to try getting some life drawing stuff in, I haven't done those in a while. Next week, I promise.

ZBrush Final (for Now) Quadruped Concept Art

I have had numerous difficulties from it, and multiple differing critiques from my friends, I decided to stop here, for if I don't, I won't be able to finish my second project tonight, which is.. dun dun dun.. finishing my Samurai Sculpt! So let's do this!!!

This is my creature concept so far. It is for ZBrush. I based mine off of a Rhino and a Whale after looking at other people's concepts. The professor didn't like my previous concept before, because it looked too much like a horse. But I think this one is going to turn out better.

Progress - PRJ300 Character

Hey guys, if you're curious about how my character progress is.. I think I'm about done with the basic diffuse texture. Prof. Peasley is only asking for this much so this I think is what I'll be giving him for now. He's the model based on the character I did for the ART251 final. Overall, I don't think it's too bad.

Progess - CG305 ZBrush Character


Well, ZBrush isn't going to swell for me now. I've tried to sculpt in the basics, but unfortunately, I can't add the finer details through my alpha brushes without my computer crashing on me. I might have to reinstall ZBrush. But overall I am quite proud with the results of my character, sans the details on the armor. Next week, DETAIL, and COLOR : D

Week 7 Storyboards Assignment.

This week, we're supposed to seperate the story structures in shorts. We need an aanlysis of 2 different shorts, so I did Alma, and Death Buy Lemonade.

Recent Art Updates - (September 15th - October 17th)

For my Digital Sculpting class, I am done with the base model of my samurai. Final result is around 8000 polys. It's unique because I have to intentionally model each part differently. Currently, I am sculpting in ZBrush. Will update when it's done.

On the other hand, for my projects class, I have to model in one basic shape, and pay attention to the basic edge loops. Currently, I am unwrapping and texturing my character. Also will update when it's done.


Well, here are some of my recent sketches that we have to do as a second assignment for Storyboards class. I had regressed in my drawings quite a bit, but I am quickly gaining momentum every week I do for sketches. Sketches for week 2 are sort of.. weird.

 Sketches for week 3 get a bit more detailed..

 And finally, sketches I've done recently are at least acceptable.

 This is one sketch of my landscape after I got used to drawing again, because the previous one... sucked.

Thankfully, I know have learnt my lesson that using scanners; the scene looks infinitely better.

And.. I guess that's all I'm willing to show for now : D
